Ultrasonic Ribbon Welders Manual and
Automatic
A Breakthrough in Ultrasonic Welding
Technology
 | |
Features Common to Manual
and Automatic Models
- Fast, Reliable, Extra Strength
welds ( a 1/2" wide ribbon
typically withstands a tension
of 11 Kg. (at 30 KHz) - 14 Kg
with the 40 KHz units. 11 Kg
tensile strenght is more than
adequate. Additional strength
is important with low density
ribbons.
- 2 cycle operation, 1 for
cutting and 1 for ironing
- Compact, efficient use of
desk space
- Unit(s) pay for themselves
very quickly
- Stable operation during
protracted usage. UltraGen
requires no re-calibration due
to the proprietary design of
the Titanium Sonotrode.
Sonotrode is the mechanical
titanium head which applies
ultrasonic energy to the
ribbon to be welded.
- Ideal for any size company
dedicated to the Printer
Support Business
- Sonotrode available in 2
widths, 40 mm and 60 mm
- Proprietary technology
requires minimum pressure to
be applied by Sonotrode to
ribbon both for cutting and
welding
- Very quiet operation --
completely inaudible with the
units operating at 40 KHz.
- All units compliant with CEE
regulations

Features Specific to Automatic
(Pneumatic) Models
- Fully automatic operation - all
cycles microprocessor
controlled
- Operation via pedal with
welding area protected
- Digital readout
- Selectable cut, weld time, and
hold time. 'Cut' and 'Weld'
time is the time during which
ultrasonic energy is applied to
the ribbon for cutting and
welding. 'Hold' time refers to
the time during which the
pneumatic system 'holds' the
Sonotrode on the ribbon.
- Built-in memory to store
values of hold and weld time
depending on type and quality
of ribbon handled.
- Pneumatic System based on
FESTO highest quality
components with worldwide
support. FESTO components
are used on NASA's shuttle's
pneumatic systems.

UltraGen, Ultrasonic Welders open a real new opportunity to any Company
dedicated to Printer Support. Dot-matrix printing technology will last in time
due to the low cost of printing and its multiple copy capability (with one
pass). As cost of dot-matrix cartridges increase, substituting the ribbon
makes even more economic sense to the User and it means profit to the
Operator. UltraGen yields perfect, strong welds and at industrial production
speed. Thanks to new and proprietary technology we can offer the UltraGen
at a fraction of the cost of conventional Ultrasonic Welders. But there is
absolutely no compromise in quality or performance. Speed, ease of
operation and performance match or outperform the most expensive
Welders.
Operation
Ribbons to be joined are aligned on the base of the Welding Unit so that the
angles of the ribbons are at rest on the edge of the 'Ultrasonic Knife'. The
Generator is connected to the Welding Unit. Upon lowering of the Welding
Unit arm over the Ultrasonic Knife, a pulse of energy is transmitted to the
ribbon. A weld is formed and the excess ribbon is automatically cut off. The
welded ribbon is then unfolded and the Welding Arm descends again, this
time to iron the weld for a perfectly flat joint.
