UltraGen, the Ultrasonic Ribbon Welder, opens a new wealth of opportunities to any
company dedicated to printer support. Now you can exchange a brand new ribbon into an
old cartridge with maximum speed and efficiency. The critical step in the ribbon exchange
operation is the weld or ribbon joint. UltraGen yields perfect, strong welds, in one second or
less. Operation is very easy and intuitive. And thanks to a new, proprietary breakthrough in
Ultrasound Generation Technology, we can offer the UltraGen at a fraction of the cost of
conventional Ultrasonic Welders. But there is absolutely no compromise in quality or
performance. In fact, we have incorporated into the machine improvements suggested by
users of the vastly more expensive and conventional machines. Field tests prior to product
introduction have proven that you can recover the cost of the UltraGen in less than one
month!
Each Ultragen is furnished complete
with an ultrasound generator and a welding unit. The welding unit
consists of the transducer, sonotrode (aka ultrasound head or welding
element) and knife table. The knife table is the metal, movable table
positioned below the sonotrode and has two positions: cut & weld
(first phase) and iron (second phase, to flatten weld made in first
phase).
Two types of Ultragen are available,
pneumatic and manual. In the Manual Unit(s), the operator lowers the arm connected to the
Welding Unit to cut and weld (first phase). Then he switches the
Knife Table to the "ironing" position and lowers again the arm to
flatten the weld. In the Pneumatic Unit(s) the two operations, cut/weld and iron are
controlled by a foot pedal. The Pneumatic Units have also easily
programmable weld time and iron time plus memory. User programs
in memory weld time and iron time corresponding to best
performance for the specific ribbon to be welded. Also the new 40
KHz pneumatic unit is guaranteed for 1,000.000 (one million welds)
before the Sonotrode need re-alignment. In the manual unit the
Sonotrode needs to be re-aligned (i.e. reground) after about 80,000
- 100,000 operations.
Both the manual and the pneumatic unit are very sturdy and reliable. One
particularly positive point about our machines is their stability with
temperature variations. This means that even with extensive operation the
UltraGen ultrasound frequency remains stable. This is a key to effective
performance.
The Pneumatic 40 KHz unit has equal or superior performance
characteristics (superior frequency stability) as the Branson or REM units
which cost so much more. The Pneumatic 40 KHz unit can also be
computer programmed and driven. Any small pneumatic compressor is
suitable - a 4 psi model (and above) is suitable. The pneumatic circuits and
components are Festos, world leader in pneumatic control, system and
technology.
