How To Get Started With Laser Cartridge Recharging
Our inquirers quite often ask us, how do I get started in this business? The question is clear and natural, but we can answer it only with suggestions. We could of course answer with absolute confidence if we knew what cartridges are found more frequently in your neighborhood.
We propose not to tell you how to prospect for business. You can do it directly or by a low cost mailing to the firms, big and small in your area. Keep in mind that many firms use a combination of laser, dot matrix and jet printers. We support all of them with our line of TonerBuckets, MacInker re-inkers, ribbon welders and JetMasters recharge kits. The decision on which printers to service is entirely yours. However, imagine a customer being proposed something like this:
"Let me visit you and assess how much your Company spends per years in printer supplies and give me a chance of:
- Cutting your printing costs by at least 50%
- Improving the quality of your printing
- Extending the useful life of your printers, laser and dot matrix
- Giving you the option of printing in color (with laser and dot matrix"**
It is difficult how anyone could not respond to this simple and common sense message. Compare the costs of setting yourself in the printer support business to those of any other franchise. It is the proverbial peanuts and the opportunity is immensely more solid than selling polished stones or pink plastic boxes etc. Or compare with franchises that sell you a vacuum cleaner, some soap and the promise of wealth for several thousand (!!!) dollars. We could list more. The point is this, however slow or fast you wish to start the business you have really to work hard to fail. By failure we mean "not to recover your investment".

To recover this investment you need to do about 20 recharges (based on a conservative price for a recharged cartridge of $43.00 for the HP II and $62.00 for the HP IV - you can charge more when you change the drum). Some customers have organized themselves to do 30-50 cartridges per day or more. To service dot matrix and jet cartridges the initial investment is even less.
