Laser Printer Cartridge Recharge System
Questions & Answers on TonerBucket
What is a TonerBucket?
TonerBucket is a kit containing a training video and the tools/components required to learn to service one specific laser printer cartridge. While following the video you do and complete one recharge.
How many recharges to I get from a TonerBucket?
The TonerBucket is designed to show how to take the cartridge apart and access its components, including the toner reservoir so as to reload the cartridge with fresh toner. One bottle of toner (i.e. one recharge) is included with each TonerBucket. Toner costs are listed, according to the type of cartridge. Since the most recurring cost in servicing a laser cartridge is the toner, the economic benefits are clear. As you can see from the list, the toner is a small fraction of the cartridge cost. Hence the opportunity for savings and/or for starting a business.
Is recharging difficult?
A qualitative question requires a qualitative answer. Recharging with the TonerBucket system is really easy. Why? Because the video shows you exactly where to apply the tool(s) to disassemble and assemble the cartridge. And the tools referred to in the video are at your disposal in the holding bucket we are sending you with each TonerBucket.
Until recently some companies charged from $6,000.00 to $8,000.00 for a week of training. To justify the costs the student had to learn several cartridges at once. But the mind works in finite steps. The result was a heaping of information difficult to sort out when starting to work. With the video it is like having a teacher at your side, when and where you want. The speaker proceeds at a moderate pace so that you can easily follow along. Should you need to pause or see one particular step again you just stop and rewind your VCR to repeat the step. In general after watching the video 2 or 3 times you will have mastered the procedure and will no longer need the video. But the video will always be there should you wish to refer to it again for whatever reason. On balance, the TonerBucket system is the most cost effective method to approach laser cartridge recharging.
Do I need anything else besides the TonerBucket?
We suggest to get a few additional toner bottles for convenience, but you can acquire supplies at any time when needed. Since we constantly research this field we introduce new products, following the development of the technology. For example we have recently introduced the DRUM RESTORER. The Drum Restorer is an inexpensive chemical compound which, when rubbed on the drum gives it a new sheen and it also helps restore the electromagnetic characteristics of the drum itself. One Drum restorer bottles will give you 200 applications. The feedback has been excellent and we recommend it. Even the original drum, which is usually disposed of and replaced with a long life drum, can be restored 2 or 3 times.
The second, optional but recommended tool is the TonerVacuum. Toner, as any laser printer user knows, tends to find its way everywhere inside the printer. This is because some toner inevitably escapes before and during the fusing process (when the toner is heated and fused to the paper). To print cleanly you need a clean printer. Regularly vacuuming the printer does wonders to its performance and longevity.
Should I consider Laser Recharging as a Business?
You can judge by yourself. Lets assume a new cartridge cost of $80.00 (cheap in many cases). Your recurrent cost is the toner. Some toners are more expensive because of their ultra-fine grain (but the cartridges are also significantly more expensive). In general the cost of the toner can be as low as 1/10 of the cost of a new cartridge. The mathematics are clear and you see why this is a serious and profitable business. Printing is a bit like taxes. No business can do without it. If they print they need the means to do so. We support the most popular laser printers (i.e. where there is profit for you), and most jet and dot matrix printers.
Are the training videos available in PAL (European) television standard?
Yes, they cost a little more, as we ourselves must have the tapes converted.
How do I select and order additional parts for the cartridges I wish to support?
Note that there are the following separate listings in the catalog.
Laser Toners. Refer to this listing for toner only
Prepared Laser Toner Kits (available only for the cartridges listed). Refer to this list if you wish to order the matching parts (except the drum) all together. Usually there is some saving by ordering a Prepared Laser Toner Kit, as opposed to ordering the individual parts separately.
Matching (TonerBucket) Laser Recharge Cartridge Parts. Refer to this list to locate the parts specifically associated to the cartridge you are servicing.
Other Laser Kits. These kits are for reloading toner into printers that do NOT use the classic laser cartridges supported by a TonerBucket. Typically toner of printers listed in "Other Laser Kits comes in a tube which is slipped into the toner container inside the specific printer.

How about color toner?
While recharging with standard toner is an easy and established technology, recharging with color toner requires a more difficult process which is also proprietary.
Please refer to the list to locate the printers and the colors supported. Send the empty cartridges to us and we will return them to you loaded with the required color. If necessary we can supply a new cartridge shell, but they are occasionally hard to come by. We prefer to recharge your cartridges and it is also more economical.
Please note that we provide recharging for color toner but not standard toner recharging (black cartridges). The objective of the TonerBucket is for you to save and/or start a business. It is possible that in time color toner recharging may be done in the field, when the color cartridge recharge technology will be simplified. We are including an article from our newsletter for those who wish to read about the general principle of operation of a laser printer. "The extraordinary journey of an ordinary piece (of paper)"
