How to Understand the Picture-In-A-Picture and the Las Vegas Edition
Video Overlay Packages
A description in the form of a play for those who wish to season their
understanding with the pepper of classical lore.
The characters:
Juno, jealous wife of Jupiter
Circe, female magician, consultant in witchcraft, and metamorphosis
Vulcan, equipment operator and manager of "Magics Unlimited Heat Transfer
Station"
The setting: Circe's villa in the Mediterranean island of Aeetes.
Circe. (opens a letter just delivered by her servant). Oh, a letter from mainland
Greece, I wonder who is writing to me - oh, it is Juno, let's see what she says:
(reads letter aloud).
Dear Circe,
I need your help with a problem that has vexed me for years and that's becoming
worse. My husband Jupiter is being unfaithful - lately he does not even look at
me, he disregards me completely. I still love him and I don't know what to do. I
asked him if there is anything wrong with me - he says he likes my face but that I
have put on weight. He is having a middle age crisis and likes the anorexic look. I
tried weight loss programs before but they don't work with me. I know you can
work magic - you were even able to make Ulysses fall in love with you. I will visit
with you shortly, I'll rent Apollo's flying carpet and be in Aeetes in no time.
See you soon,
Juno
(Noise of screeching brakes - dust flies in the air - Juno steps out of a chariot
driven by a team of winged horses.)
 | Circe. Juno, how nice to see you, I was just
finishing to read your letter. I am sorry about Jupiter. He is
incorrigible, he even made a pass at me not long ago. I
could only get rid of him by making him drink a magic
potion, which turned him into what he is, a male chauvinist
pig. Then I ran away and haven't seem him since. |
Juno. But have you any ideas about how to make him love me again?
Circe. I have an idea which we can try out. Why don't we create a virtual you, a
new Juno that keeps your charming face but changes your body into a shape
more palatable to your devilish husband?
Juno. But can this be done?
Circe. Yes....virtually. This is what we'll do. We will create a full size picture of a
new sexier you - on the picture you will inscribe some text, something like "I long
for you" or "..be mine tonight on Mt. Olympus". Then in the evening you retire
to your dimly lit chambers and call him to you. Beguiled by the picture he will not
fail to answer your call. I know him well enough, and between you and me, he is
quite gullible at times.
Juno. I can't wait to try but what kind of magic do you need to create a virtual
me? Not only am I fascinated by the idea but I would like to know more about it.
Circe. No problem, this magic is easier than you think and you don't need to
have the wisdom of Athena to understand how it works. I set up Vulcan with
such a system with the help of Computer Friends from Portland, Oregon. He has
a booth in the island of Cyprus and makes a very good income by selling
pictures, shirts, mugs, plates, and buttons to tourists.
(more dust and noise of screeching wheels and neighing horses as Apollo's
chariots takes off for Cyprus. Vulcan is taking a video picture of a thin young
man's face superimposed on the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger (who is
holding the reins of a horse) and further superimposing the image on a Cyprus
landscape)
Vulcan. What a pleasure to see you, Circe and Juno. Let me finish with this
customer and I will be with you shortly.
(delivers picture printed on a Kodak printer to customer)
How can I help you, my good ladies?
 | | Circe. I would like to show Juno how your
system works, in particular the Picture-In-A-Picture and
the differences between Picture-In-A-Picture and its
upgraded version, the Las Vegas Edition. I want you to
take a picture of Juno and overlay her face over the
body of a nymph or nymphette, from your collection of
bimbo photographs. (aside to Juno) "I will not tell
Vulcan how you are going to use this picture".
Vulcan. With pleasure. Picture-In-A-Picture is the
combination of two things, Computer Friends' video
capture card (the VideoFotoSNAP! adapted for the
purpose of overlaying) and their video overlay
software. The software comes on a CD and is fully
compatible with Windows 95. The principle of
overlaying involves two concepts, "mask" and live
video. |
