Yes. The expected lifetime of a drum cartridge is based on the actual page count, regardless of how much toner is put on any given page. Even if the printer prints blank pages, the drum's remaining life would be reduced. Toner cartridges, on the other hand, are rated based on toner density on the printed pages. For example, 40,000 blank pages would use up the life of a drum cartridge that is rated for 40,000 images, but the toner cartridge(s) would still have all their toner. On the other hand, 10,000 sheets of full black coverage would use up a lot of toner, but only count down 10,000 images from the drum cartridge's life. With color laser printers that have only one drum cartridge (aka drum unit, photoconductor unit, opc belt, etc.), the lifetime of the drum would depend on the number of pages printed AND the number of colors used on the page. A page printed using only black would subtract one image from the drum unit's life, however, and 4-color page would subtract 4 images.
