Thank you for your interest in our products. Servicing printer ribbon cartridges is a profitable business by definition. A new ribbon cartridge costs anywhere from $6.00 to $80.00 (some are more expensive). An average cartridge can be re-inked about 60-100 times and the costs in ink are on average, 5 cents to 15 cents per re-inking, depending on the size of the cartridge. It follows that you can provide a good ribbon to your customers at significant savings and still make a good profit.

InkerKing is a machine designed especially for the Ribbon Re-Inking Service Office. We introduced the concept of re-inking ribbons (and the first MacInker) in 1982. The InkerKing incorporates all the suggestions and wishes we had from our customers through the ensuing years. These are Customers who had been using the Universal MacInker(s) to offer a re-inking service.

Although different providers have slightly different marketing methods the general approach is this:

  1. Propose to companies in a specific geographic area to cut their ribbon expenses in half.
  2. Re-ink their first cartridge for free
  3. Upon acceptance of the result by the customer, establish a procedure to collect, re-ink and deliver the cartridges to the customer.

Assuming the cost of a new cartridge at $10.00 and a cost to the customer of $5.00 per re-inked cartridge, and assuming you get at least 20 cartridges per day to re-ink you have a gross income of $100.00 per day. This is a minimum. Some offices do 150-200 cartridges per day or more.

The business you are planning to set up is solid and proven - we are in the unusual position of not having to oversell the concept because the results speak for themselves. The investment in equipment is minimal compared to just about any other business or franchise you can think of. An added benefit of the Re-Inking Business is that you get to know your customer’s computer needs, hence opening a sales channel for other related products (which we can supply). There are no additional marketing costs as you are servicing the customer already. And because of the good will (and often gratitude) you get from the customer for the dramatic cut in printing costs, you sell from a position of advantage.
