MacBond IIB

The Professional MacBond IIB makes strong and lasting bonds at a fraction of the cost involved when using large ultrasonic bonding machines. With a minimum of practice, you will make welds of excellent quality and with remarkable speed.

Description

The Professional MacBond IIB is portable. Contained in the unit is a solid-mounted transformer and timer. The ribbon welding area is located on the top.

Operation

The Operator uses the Ribbon Alignment Bars, located on the top, to align the sections of the ribbon that are to be welded together. After the ribbon is in the proper position, the black rubber retainers are used to hold the ribbon in place. To facilitate the bond, a thin strip of teflon tape is placed just above the bonding wire. The ribbon is then placed criss-cross over the teflon tape and bonding element. A hinged hold-down element keeps the ribbons firm in the bonding area. To effect the bond, push in the weld button. The timer, located next to the weld button, automatically regulates the duration of the weld and will shut off the current at the end of the selected time. The operation is now complete. With some practice, it is possible to make a bond in less than a minute, including the time to align the ribbon. The bond is tough and durable. The Professional MacBond IIB can also be used to change ribbons without opening the lid of the cartridge(s). The sequence is as follows:

1. Cut the ribbon in the exposed section at the front of the cartridge.
2. Bond the old ribbon with the new ribbon, making sure to make a visible mark on the weld.
3. Pull the old ribbon out at the exit end of the cartridge until the bond is out.
4. Cut off and discard the old ribbon.
5. Advance the new ribbon into the cartridge until the desired length is inside the cartridge.
6. Cut the new ribbon at the entry point and join to the other end of the new ribbon using MacBond IIB.

Ribbon is available in Pancakes [100 yards], or in Bulk [minimum 600 yards]. Please refer to the Bulk Ribbon price list. The quality of the bond is not affected by the type or color of ink present on the ribbon.
